Flavors of China

Included in each of our vacation packages are local specialities for your delight!  Try the Peking Duck Banquet in Beijing, an Imperial Dumpling Banquet in Xian or some spicy Sichuan cuisine in Chongqing.  And for those extending your trip to Hong Kong  we recommend you try the ever famous Dim Sum* on one of your free days!

 Peking Duck Banquet: Beijing
Once a main dish featured in numerous Imperial court dinners, the Peking Duck Banquet is a meal one must experience while visiting Beijing. Prepared right in front of diners, the chef carefully cuts the cooked duck into thin slices. The duck is then wrapped in the pancake along with a few spring onions and hoison sauce and served to the table.

Included in both our Deluxe and Premiere Tours is the famed dumpling banquet. After a visit to the Terra Cotta Warriors, indulge in these delectable dumplings filled with various meats, seafoods and vegetables.

Sichuan Cuisine: Chongqing

With the presence of garlic, chili peppers, peppercorn and ginger in almost every dish, it is no wonder that Chongqing is most famous for its fiery-hot Sichuan cuisine. Most popular is the Ma Po Tofu dish. Packed with flavor, the dish consists of tofu and minced meat in a spicy bean and chili sauce and is typically eaten with a bowl of rice.

Dim Sum: Hong Kong

More commonly known as "Dim Sum", this Chinese custom derived from the ancient tradition of "Yum Cha" which means "drink tea". Tea houses were originally built to provide travelers journeying the Silk Road
with a place to relax and drink tea. Over time, small portions of a variety of foods were slowly introduced along with Yum Cha and evolved into the modern tradition of Dim Sum. Among the vast array of choices, most popular at Dim Sum is har gau (steamed dumpling - shrimp wrapped in clear rice flour), Shu Mai, Char Siu Baau (fluffy white bun filled with barbecued pork), Sticky rice (glutinous rice with eggs, mushrooms, dried scallops and Chinese sausage wrapped in a lotus leaf), lo bak go (turnip cakes) and Chicken Feet (for the adventurous). Dessert usually offers a choice of sweet egg tarts, mango pudding, almond flavor tofu, and much more.
*Dim Sum not included in our Hong Kong packages

Spotlight on: Macau

 3 Days 2 Nights
Price from $350
Located across the Pearl River, this once Portuguese colony is a unique blend of Mediterranean and Asian culture. Starting at only $350, our Macau City Package includes:
- Round trip pier/hotel transfers
- 2 nights hotel accommodation
- Daily American breakfast and one lunch
- One day city tour

Day1: Transfer from the pier to your hotel and rest up for a day of sightseeing tomorrow.
Day 2: Today we will visit St Paul’s Ruins, Penha Church, Barrier Gate, Kum Iam Temple and Lisboa Casino. Lunch is included.
Day 3: Transfer from hotel to pier

This first stop of the day will be at St Paul’s Ruins. This 17th century Portuguese Cathedral is dedicated to St.Paul the Apostle and was honored in 2005 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the time of its construction, the Cathedral was considered to be the largest Catholic Church in Asia. However, in 1835 a fire during a typhoon greatly damaged the Cathedral leaving solely the fa├žade, staircase, and portion of a wall. It remained unchanged until it underwent restoration in 1990.

Next, you will stop at Penha Church.  Barely escaping capture by Dutch raiders, this chapel was built in 1622 by the crew and passengers of a Portuguese ship. This chapel that once served as a pilgrimage site for sailors embarking on perilous journeys is just one of the many amazing places you will visit during your day of sightseeing.

Following Penha Church, you will continue on to the Barrier Gate and then the Kun Iam Temple.  One of the oldest temples in Macau, the Kun Iam Temple was erected in 1400s to honor the goddess of mercy. The first Sino-American treaty signed in 1844 is located on one of the stone tablets of the temple.
Finish your day with a stop at the famous Lisboa casino.
